Parents/Guardians,
Fergus from Fingal School of Music has kindly offered to do FREE ukulele music lessons with pupils next Tuesday 27th November from 2.10pm - 3pm, to help them prepare for their showcase on December 4th. If you wish for your to attend you MUST COMPLETE THIS FORM by Monday 26th November at 10am. Please CLICK HERE to access the form Today our debating team from Alder and Kamilah class (5th and 6th) were busy in a debating competition with St. Colmcille's Senior National School. It was our first debate and the motion ('Climate Change is Not Our Problem') was quite a challenge, as we had to agree with it! Both teams argued their points very well and in the end the judges awarded the win to St. Colmcille's, but made a special mention to the quality of both team's speeches. Well done to St. Colmcille's on their win, and well done to both teams for having such an in depth debate. There will be four more rounds so plenty of chances to win debates!
Yesterday 5th and 6th class completed their Marathon in Santry. They ran their final mile with hundreds of other children and completed the program by receiving medals acknowledging their hard work throughout the past two months. The children have run more than 42km since September and have improved their health and fitness, as well as increased their awareness of nutrition, benefits of exercise, and physical and mental health through their booklets. Well done all!
Last week, 5th and 6th class got very special visitors, as Elizabeth and Alan visited the classes to talk about their novels. We have been reading their books since September and it was amazing to have them visit and talk about the writing process, quiz the children about their knowledge and take questions from their fans. We were able to show them the creative tasks we've been completing, such as visualisations, summaries, letters, character studies, brochures etc.
