Collins Barracks Trip😎 👀👅
This project is about the trip to collins Barracks. We went on the trip to Collins Barracks happened on the 25th of January 2019 on a Friday. The trip was about world war two.
My favourite thing I saw was called Patrick Pearse’s pistol. It was the coolest thing I saw there, apart from the plane. Patrick Henry Pearse (also known as Pádraig or Pádraic Pearse; Irish: Pádraig Anraí Mac Piarais; 10 November 1879 – 3 May 1916) was an Irish teacher, barrister, poet, writer, nationalist, republican political activist and revolutionary who was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916. When the Irish Volunteers split over World War Two Patrick Pearse become one of the leaders of those opposed to helping Britain in the war. In 1937 he joined the Irish Republican Brotherhood. He also helped organise the Easter Rising in 1916. Pearse was also one of the seven people who signed the Proclamation. Collins Barracks(Irish: Dún Uí Choileáin) is a former military barracks in the Arbour Hill area of Dublin, Ireland. The buildings are now the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts and History. Housing both British Armed Forces and Irish Army garrisons through three centuries, the barracks were the oldest continuously occupied example in the world. Originally called simply The Barracks, and later The Royal Barracks, the name was changed to Collins Barracks when handed over to the Irish Free State in 1922. Built in 1702, and further extended in the late 18th century and 19th century, the complex's main buildings are neo-classical in style. Since 1997 the barracks have been home to collections of the National Museum of Ireland (for Decorative Arts and History exhibits), and the original structures have seen some award winning redevelopment and conservation work to support this new role. THANKS FOR LISTENING TO MY PROJECT I HOPE YOU ENJOYED JUST LIKE HOW WE ENJOYED OUR TRIP TO COLLINS BARRACKS (This was all done in pencil)

Battle Of The Books
About a week ago, 5th and 6th class went to the Battle Of The Books in Swords. We went there because i think they wanted to see who’s team would remember all about the books. The battle was about Arthur Quinn and The Book Of Learning. 3 students from each class would be chosen to compete. 5th class would do Arthur Quinn and 6th class would do The Book Of Learning, while the rest of the classes were to watch. Corey, Tanush, and Hamza were chosen to compete in 5th class. When we got there, we had to wait for the other schools to come. There would be a person who would ask the questions and repeat them. Honestly, it was pretty boring because we only watched them answer the questions. At the end, there was only one more question left. But they cheated. The Battle Of The Books was only about the two books, but the final question was about rugby. That was unfair! Also, the other school cheated because they called out the answer to the team! Luke said he’ll talk to the person who said the question, but i don’t know if he did yet… Anyways, that was my report on the unfair Battle Of The Books. Debates 2019
On the 21st of January Powerstown’s debate team: Seán, Helen and Mayra went head to head with Holy Rosary School, to debate the motion” People should be fined for not recycling.” Powerstown had to oppose this motion. Holy Rosary School’s captain went first, her name was Siofra and she opened up her school arguments. Seán, was next he was Powerstown’s captain, he proposed other solutions. Holy Rosary School’s 2nd speaker read out her speech she told us about how not 0After her Helen, Powerstown’s 2nd speaker explained how the USA already are rewarding people who recycle.Holy Rosary’s 3rd speaker closed off their school’s argument. Last was Mayra who closed off the debate. The rebuttal was pretty slow on Powerstown’s side but Holy Rosary had too much facts that they almost went over the time limit. At the end of the debate both the adjudicators Got us very confused about the topic of debating at the end when we were all very confused Michael finally revealed that Holy Rosary won and Powerstown lost their second debate. Mini-museum (Report)
Some weeks ago 5th class have been to a mini museum in the school to look at some old stuff. We only had 20 minutes because 6th class will come.We were in 4 groups and 4 tables with old stuff on it and we had 5 minutes per tables. We had to draw some interesting things that liked. We swapped over to another table and we saw a lot of interesting stuff. At the end we couldn’t see all the stuff because 6th class came. Nicolae did the holocaust .I did Jehovah's witnesses during wwII and last but not least helen did winston churchill. In effect heritage week is a week we will never forget it was very fun and we all learned a lot from it. I think we all had a lot of fun putting together those projects and watching all the videos and we even had a visitor(my mom) come in and talk to us about jehovah’s witnesses. The end thank you for listening High School Musical
Report😃 In December on Friday 5th and 6th class went to Le Cheile. The reason why we went is because Le Cheile students from 4th year were performing a play called High School Musical. There were cheerleaders and singers. There were also very funny parts in the play and people bursted out laughing. In the middle of the play there was time to buy food and snacks from the till. When I went to the till to buy a lollipop a lady pushed me away and said the shop was closed. But when Nathan from 6th class went she didn't say anything and he was allowed to buy something. Anyways when the play started again everyone from different schools were just chilling and eating their food. There were some people i knew that was in the High School Musical Play. The main characters were Troy and Gabriella. When it ended everyone started talking then my school walked back to our school which was very painful. Except from that it was great and fun and it was better cause it was free ( Thanks Luke just saw what you said in my book). This is my report about the trip to High School Musical Thank you for reading my report By Michael 😃 Shared Reading
( By Helen) In January, 5th class went to Junior Infants to read stories to them. Some People in 5th class had younger siblings in that class, so they read to them which was very very nice. When we got down to the Junior Infants, we all split up until everyone from 5th class had one or two children to read to. It was really funny when some of the Junior Infants started to ask questions and started to interrupt the reader, or some would even daydream! We got to read them lots of stories to them. Most of the books theirs, but they didn’t mind , well hopefully they didn’t mind. Some people from 5th class brought in some of their own books, so the Junior Infants did get to hear some new stories. We hope the Junior Infants enjoyed us reading to them. And thank you Junior Infants for letting us come your class and letting us read to you! The Alder Class. |
